Saving Face (2012), acid attacks on women in Pakistan

Meanwhile, in America, feminists are complaining about how dress codes are oppressive.

You idiots have never experienced oppression, and pray you never do, because this is what it looks like.

As a South Asian American feminist, let me remind everyone that oppression is not a competition.

Just because we fight one type of sexism doesn’t mean we don’t care about other instances of sexism that don’t affect us directly in our day to day lives.

My heart goes out to this woman and the hundreds of other victims like her. I want to educate people about these kinds of incidents. I support organizations that help women like this.

You may think that dress code issues are trivial, but they are related to a larger issue of women’s bodily autonomy, which affects women’s health and safety.

So please, let’s try to bring awareness and bring about change instead of insulting entire groups of people because they are facing issues that are less scary than the one presented.

oppression is not a competition

thank you so much for this wording

Time to show some love and appreciate these heroes.

Firefighters are some badass mutha fuckas

firefighters are incredibly under appreciated, this is sadly the first appreciation post to them and we need more of these, they literally walk through hell to pick up people and pull them out, they are all Castiels if all civilians are Deans, and they save animals, treating all like humans, i have never heard of a firefighter that has chosen not to save someone for there race or sex or sexuality or anything, a human is a human and an animal is an animal, i love these people and they don’t deserve to be ignored as much as they are

My neighbour is a firefighter and I respect him so much, he’s like a second father to me and is just the most loyal, honest, brave and amazing man. He’s risking his life every single day and he loves helping out people.

Firefighters and paramedics are greatly under appreciated.

Britney is younger than Bey…

white people age like milk lol

Lmao

yeah. the stress of having your parents financially dependent on you since childhood, learning disabilities, mental illness, two divorces, and drug and alcohol abuse will age you.

not to say bey has had it easier since you know, racism. but bey definitely has class privilege and as far as we know, health/ability privilege over britney. but yeah, go on and say how poorly britney has aged. It’s not like she’s been working and paying her family’s bills since she was like 15.

I have to agree on this…it’s not fair to make racial comments about one woman in comparison to another. As women, we need to be trying to cooperate with each other, not tear each other down. It only perpetuates an endless damaging cycle, in my humble opinion.

Not to mention the fact that Beyonce, the woman who stood in front of the word Feminist in big letters on national television, probably would be really upset to see that people are saying things like this.

Also

She looks just fine to me.

this is actually why the beyhive lowkey annoys me. theyre like yaaaas feminism beyonce yaaaaas then turn around and constantly tear down every female celeb in sight like lmfao. also britney is the same age as bey i think theyre only a few months apart.

Why are we comparing women at all? What good does it bring any of us to tear down one woman to build up another? None. If this is the equality you’re fighting for then I want none of your two faced, bigoted ideals.

I think we all know what to say here…
"Leave Britney Alone!"

She looks fabulous. No need to compare anything.

Can we take a moment to appreciate the fact that the best loved line from this movie comes from a character we never even got to see?

it’s almost 2014 already are we still arguing on whether to give female characters the equal amount of screentime on movies as male characters
